Jasmine Webber is a fourth-year student majoring in journalism. Webber started her first two years of college at Minnesota State University, Mankato as a mass media major and transferred to the University in the fall of 2018. Webber is a passionate photographer who likes to shoot lifestyle and stylized portraits in her free time.
“When it came to choosing my major, I didn’t know if I could just make a living on photography. I feel like that’s kind of hard, so when deciding to go to college, I was like ‘what would pair with photography’, and so I started going to Mankato. So, I went there for my first two years of college and there was just mass media, so I decided to do mass media because I thought it would pair well with photography.
I didn’t like the opportunities and I didn’t see much for myself creatively compared to being in the Cities and being able to network and meet new people. So, I ended up transferring.
I used to like posting pictures and I had someone reach out; she has a very physical Instagram for fashion and blogging and I took photos of her and everyone noticed. In the summer of 2018, I just, like, progressed and constantly had people reaching out and taking a lot of pictures. So, I feel like that was like a proud summer for me.”
